About the Opportunity
Harbour City Ferries has an exciting opportunity for a Tradesperson (Plumber) to join the team in Balmain, NSW, on a 6-month contract, full-time basis.
In this role, you will be working with various trades undertaking maintenance and repairs on the Harbour City Ferries fleet. You will be required to work safely and efficiently under limited supervision. It is essential that you are able to work to time frames and consistently meet the targets set by your direct supervisors.
It is an expectation that you will demonstrate a can-do attitude and will always represent Harbour City Ferries professionally, and strictly adhere to our Code of Conduct and business values.
Your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Preventative maintenance and breakdown repair of Harbour City Ferries fleet;
- Manufacturing and repairing complex steel and stainless steel plumbing systems;
- Reading plans and fabricating as per designs;
- Actively assisting in the identification, elimination, and control of workplace hazards; and
- Knowledge with fuel and bilge systems, engine cooling systems, sanitation systems, engine exhaust systems and water and fire systems.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Tradesperson with trade certification in Plumbing with high-level welding skills. Ideally, you will hold a Tig, Mig welder qualification. Experience and understanding of the fire systems allocated on ferries would also be highly regarded, as will any marine or shipyard experience.
An understanding of EEO and OH&S policies and practices will be essential, along with the ability to work as part of a multi-skilled team, as well as autonomously on nominated tasks. Your high-level communication skills will assist in establishing effective working relationships with clients and external groups, and your strong work ethic will drive your performance.
The ideal candidate will possess good time management skills, with the ability to plan, estimate and communicate the duration of their tasks. Above all, you will have an energy and passion for what you do, to reflect the level of dedication in the team you work with.
Please Note: A welding trial will take place before the successful candidate is selected.
